Ambrose Patterson, Bull Fight.

Signature, lower left: "AMBROSE PATTERSON".Painter and printmaker Ambrose Mac Arthur born 1877 in Australia died 1967 in Seattle. Patterson studied at the Nat'l Gallery Art School in Melbourne and in Paris at Academies Colarossi . In 1910 he visited Australia and spent the following seven years in Hawaii. Later he settled in Seattle, WA where he taught painting at the University of Washington until 1947. He was very fond of the San Francisco area, which he visited very often, exhibiting and participating in the local art scene.
