Dancing figure in the center is represented in color, printed on embossed paper. Seattle-based artist Arlene Mickelson shares the vision of the Northwest Coastal Indians. Her style reflects the coloring in earth tones and shows her broad and deep knowledge of Indian mythology and customs. The artist spent her childhood on Bainbridge Island, Washington, and is thinking of herself as a bridge between Native American and Japanese cultures. Mickelson studied art at the University of Washington, majoring in ceramic arts. She started her career in ceramics and expanded her artistic vocabulary in the late 70s with bronze sculptures and prints.Winner of diverse awards and member of the American Artists and Rockies Association.
