Delicate hand painted flower heads and foliage design, gilded contour lines. Few ornaments are executed in relief: carved scrolls and shells. Spring-seated chairs are covered with green-cream checkered silk; former rose colored silk upholstery is still underneath. In the first third of the 18th century Venice developed a famous industry for lacquer work inspired by Chinese examples. The Venetians, with their traditional love of festivals and elegance soon developed their unique style with flower and landscape paintings on bright background.
