Important chromolithograph in period frame after a painting by George Henry Burgess (1831-1905), depicting a view of San Francisco through the time of the Gold Rush. George Henry Burgess is known as Californian artist, as engraver, painter, and lithographer. He was born in London, England 1831 and studied art at the Somerset School in England. He was joining the Gold Rush to San Francisco in 1850. His view of San Francisco in 1849 was lithographed in 1894. Burgess died 1905 in Berkeley, California.
