Portrait of the English Lord Brougham and Vaux (1778–1868) was a British writer, scientist, lawyer, Whig politician and abolitionist. As Lord Chancellor from 1830 to 1834 in Lord Grey’s famous Whig government, he was responsible for the passings of the Reform Act of 1832 and the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833.
