Large Antique Parian Figure with Cupid
Out Of Stock
In-Stock Notification
This is an absolutely stunning and unusually large Parian statue. The English company of Copeland & Garrett perfected Parian ware in 1842 as an inexpensive substitute for marble statuary. Other companies developed similar products. The Minton Company coined Parian, and that name became the generic term for This kind of ware. This beautiful statue is of a lady holding a tray of flowers and accompanied by a cherub. It is in fine condition, however there is an excellent repair to the hand holding the tray, so good in fact as to be invisible. There are no marks on this piece so an exact country of origin or maker is not known. There is an unreadable signature on the base. This group dates from the 19th century
